Welcome to Brunswick Counselling Training
Brunswick Counselling Training is a division of the Whitby Brunswick Centre, an established registered charity (no.1115317). We are a Recognised Centre for the ABC Awarding Body and deliver accredited counselling courses which are approved by the Government Office of Qualifications and Examinations Regulator (OFQUAL). Our UK Learner Provider Number (UKRLP) is 10056194.
Our courses promote the professional, personal and skills development needed for learners to become competent and confident qualified counsellors. We are an organisational member of the British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP).
Our tutors are experienced, professional counsellors and qualified teachers. We are committed to providing the highest quality counselling training resulting in inspiring and outstanding teaching and learning. Our tutors have many years` experience of working in college and university settings as well as in private practice.

Level 2 Counselling Award (ABC Awards Accredited): Introductory Training
Taught over 10 sessions, this is a short “open access” course and no entry qualifications are required. The programme introduces the key concepts of basic counselling skills, an introduction to counselling theories as well as a focus on personal development. It is ideal for those people who want to know more about counselling and how it differs from other helping skills.

Level 3 Certificate in Counselling Skills (ABC Awards Accredited): Intermediate Training
This course is taught over 30 sessions and is a progression from the level 2 course. It is preferable for candidates to have some experience of working (paid or voluntary) in a helping capacity such as health & social care and other support services. The course is designed to deepen learners` understanding of theoretical models, develop counselling skills through practice and promote personal development and self-understanding.

Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling (ABC Awards Accredited): Qualified Counsellor Status
This is a two-year part-time course and is a progression from level 3 (or equivalent) which is an entry requirement. The course is designed to combine a range of themes including theoretical knowledge and understanding; counselling skills development; personal and professional development, along with a trainee counsellor placement throughout year 2. The aim of the course is for students to become competent counselling practitioners who can effectively apply an integrative model of counselling within a diverse client-centred context.
